Position Seasonal Chief Engineer

Start Date Beginning of May

Location N/E Queensland – South Pacific Islands

Salary Competitive salary paid in AUD (inclusive of leave)

Leave Approx. 3-month seasonal contract with potential to go permanent

Contract Private Program

Vessel Details 55m+ private motor yacht cruising the Pacific Islands and NE Australia. Well-run vessel with a need for a hands-on, proactive engineering lead.

Responsibilities Oversee all engineering operations, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Work with Caterpillar engines. Lead and delegate tasks to the 2nd Engineer using a motivational approach. Ensure smooth running of all mechanical systems during an active cruising itinerary.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years as Chief Engineer on a similar-sized yacht

Hands-on and proactive with excellent fault-finding skills

Experience with Caterpillar engines advantageous

Must have a professional appearance and leadership mindset

Priority to candidates currently in Australia or New Zealand

Only Australian citizens or those with legal rights to work in Australia are eligible

Qualifications

STCW Y2 III/2 CoC or AMSA Engineer Class 3

STCW (fully updated) with PDSD

Valid Seafarer’s Medical Certificate (min 6 months’ validity)
